GroVia

The GroVia Hybrid cloth diapering system is one of my favorite, and it’s the first that I recommend to family and friends interested in cloth diapering. I’m very proud to say my two older sisters have converted to cloth diapering after I was able to show them just how simple it can be, and both are currently using GroVia Hybrids.

At the very beginning of my second pregnancy I decided to make the switch to cloth diapers, having two little ones 18 months apart in disposables was not going to fly! The GroVia Hybrids was an easy choice for me. Now after two years of cloth diapering the Grovia Hybrids still make up a big chunk of my stash and get used daily. They still look great and are still going strong, that’s saying a lot considering I have put them through the washer every other day for TWO years.

grovia 015

The GroVia Hybrids stood out to me right away as not only a user friendly option that would be a breeze for any cloth diapering beginner to use but they would last from infancy till potty training thanks to the 3 rise snaps on the shell that are easy to adjust as your little one grows.

Hybrid Cloth Diapers - Hybrid Diaper

I have been using my GroVia Hybrids since my youngest was born at 8.6lbs up to the present at 15months and a chunky 28lbs, and my oldest daughter used them form 1.5-2yrs when she was potty trained. The GroVia Hybrids will fit most babies from about 8.5-35lbs., and in my experience they  have offered a comfortable fit with great performance as my baby has grown.

grovia collage!!

The GroVia Hybrid system consist of two parts, the water proof Shell and the Soaker Pads that conveniently snaps into the shell so you don’t have to worry about it moving out of place, that are both nicely constructed with soft and flexible cotton leg gussets that make for an even better fit and help protect against leaks. GroVia also offer diaper boosters for your growing little one and for the heavy wetter without adding much bulk to the already trim design. The shells come in either snaps or Velcro closure and they offer a wide variety of aesthetically pleasing colors and crazy cute patterns, that in my opinion really stand out from the competition and make you wanna just show those little cloth diaper bottoms off!! I have a mix of Velcro and snaps and while they both work fine over the years the Velcro has lost some of its “stick” so I much prefer the snaps as they still work as good as the day I got them.

BlackberryVanilla

When changing diapers you simply unsnap the wet/soiled soaker and put in a clean/fresh one. If the shell has become very wet or soiled(which happens from time to time on those extra messy dirty diapers) both soaker and shell should be changed. In most cases if the shell has just gotten wet you can simply hang dry it till the next diaper change, in my experience I have always been able to go through a normal day using only two shells since they really do a good job of containing the messes. I’m also a big fan of the GroVia BioLiners that are designed to lay on top of the absorbent layer and allow moisture to pass through while keeping your baby’s skin dry and  help keep solids contained for easy clean up, simply remove the liner and toss or flush. While the Grovia Hybrids are not my choice for an over night cloth diaper they certainly do a excellent job for our day time diaper, they even work great for those extra long trips to the grocery store or long car rides when combined with some extra absorbency.

diaper shot

Overall I have purchased a hand full of other cloth diapers over the past two years. My stash includes: 8 GroVia Shells,14 soaker pads, 14 boosters for the extra absorbency our baby needs, several cotton prefolds, 6 pocket diapers, and 15 bamboo extra absorbent inserts. Everything in my stash can be used and combined with my GroVia Soakers Pads, which to me is another bonus. If I get behind on laundry, I can even use a prefold in the GroVia Hybrid shells with no problem.

I have really been happy with my GroVia Hybrids! I will continue to recommend GroVia to anyone interested in a GREAT cloth diapering system that not only works  but that I know first hand will hold up over years of daily use. I only wish that I discovered GroVia and cloth diapering sooner so I could have used them from the beginning when I had my first baby girl almost 3 years ago. I’m already excited to use them on my future little ones and to continue telling mamas out there how great cloth diapering really is!!

I never really tried cloth diapering. It seemed like such a hastle to me when my kids were younger. I have recently read a few blog posts about this lately and you guys look like pros and make it seem so easy. Wish I had the nerve to try it, imagine all the money I would have saved.

I will have to buy a couple Grovias to test out on my little one coming in June next year. They do seem like a trim fit. I’m concerned about how bulky the diapers would be on a newborn though. Might just have to do prefolds for a bit if they are under 8 pounds, but definitely trying the Grovias out. 🙂

My youngest was 8.6lbs at birth I did use a “Snappied” prefold under a Thirsties newborn size for a couple of weeks since she was already kinda chunky and snug in nb size,,but the GroVia Hybrids really didnt add to much bulk as far as cloth diapers go,,but using a prefold under the covers will definatley work great for the time til your baby fills them out better 🙂

Thank you! My girls r 18mths apart,,and my oldest will be 3 in a couple months and has actually been potty trained since a little bit after she turned 2.Having two little ones in diapers really encouraged me to try to get her potty trained quick and I even think that the fact that she was CDed helped with the whole process. I wish you luck with your cloth diapering!! If you ever need any advice we r here 🙂

I can’t wait to start cloth diapering. My baby was born at 36 weeks; right when we were going to buy our diapers, and she was only 5 pounds 4 ounces, which I thought was too small for CD. And somehow three months we keep coming up with reasons to not CD.
