Do you find yourself thinking, “My kids have too many toys as is; why add to the craziness!” I have found myself on this boat and I came up with a list of gift ideas for me and my family to give my boys. This list has gifts your child will still be excited about but you won’t have to add it to the toy pile. Sorry, no socks and underwear on this list!
1. How to draw books
Give your child a book that breaks down how to draw animals or draw their favorite character. Your child will spend hours drawing and will be so pleased with how great their drawings look!
2. Zoo or Museum Membership
This is an awesome gift that will be fun and educational! Your child will be able to use this all year too!
3. Art Easel and Art Supplies
Encourage your child’s artistic side with an art easel and art supplies. You will be amazed at the hours of entertainment art supplies will give your child.
4. Lessons (Dance, Karate, Swim…)
We all know lessons can be costly so asking someone to give your child lessons or uniforms needed as a gift is a great option.
5. Kid sized furniture
You can find great options for kid furniture everywhere. Your child will love a chair just their size!
6. Personalized Books
Children just love items with their name on it! Find a book with their name worked into the books story! ISeeMe.com offers great options for personalized books, some let you add your child’s picture.
7. Magazine Subscription
Highlights, American Girl, Zoobooks are some great options.
8. Nightlight
The nightlight stuffed animal is huge right now and your kid will love this functional gift. Dream Lites or Cloud b Twilight Constellation Night Light are two good options.
9. Tickets to a Play, Concert, or Sporting Event
Your child will go crazy when they discover they will be seeing their favorite singer or team live!
10. Monthly Subscription Box likeΒ Green Kid Crafts
Green Kid Crafts – Enjoy sustainable arts, crafts, and science activities that spark creativity, build confidence, and cultivate respect and love for the environment.
This is just 10 options for Non Toy Gifts. Let me know some ideas you have!

All wonderful ideas, especially the zoo membership! I always think “experiences” are better gifts than toys!

This is something that we have struggled with! My boys have enough toys. When I made out their Christmas lists I had to include that if they give they boys a toy it must be uber educational. I especially like the idea of doing a subscription box as a gift. Something new every month! π

These are great ideas. I always have trouble thinking of gifts for my nieces and nephews because I don’t know what toys they already have. I’m definitely going to order some personalized books for Christmas presents this year.

I think that the grandparents need to see this – they give too many toys every year and these would be great ideas!! Sharing!

It’s funny how when I was a kid I always thought I needed more toys…and now I have a totally different perspective! I love the creative other ideas, especially the kid sized furniture!

We have gotten a zoo membership since I was pregnant with my son. It is a great idea for any one. You can go year-round without having to worry about the cost. We bring our lunch with us and it is a money free day for us. (Despite the gas used to get there and back.) It is great because if you don’t have time to see every exhibit in one day, you can always go back the next day or week and not have to pay to get in again. The memberships pay themselves off within a few visits. Our membership also includes our aquarium and biopark (different types of gardens, heritage farm).

Love your creative ideas. Other memberships I have given to mt children/grandchildren include children’s museums in 3 different states, nature preserves and museums, and amusement park memberships for the next summer.

I LOVE the idea of a zoo membership – one for each member of the family and you are kind of “forced” to get out of the house and do something as a family every once in a while!
Jenn
we got our boys a kid size wheelbarrow and shovels last year and they loved it! We live where it’s always warm out so they’re always outside and love digging in the dirt
Amber
I love that idea Jenn!
