The GroVia Hybrid cloth diapering system is one of my favorite, and it’s the first that I recommend to family and friends interested in cloth diapering. I’m very proud to say my two older sisters have converted to cloth diapering after I was able to show them just how simple it can be, and both are currently using GroVia Hybrids.
At the very beginning of my second pregnancy I decided to make the switch to cloth diapers, having two little ones 18 months apart in disposables was not going to fly! The GroVia Hybrids was an easy choice for me. Now after two years of cloth diapering the Grovia Hybrids still make up a big chunk of my stash and get used daily. They still look great and are still going strong, that’s saying a lot considering I have put them through the washer every other day for TWO years.
The GroVia Hybrids stood out to me right away as not only a user friendly option that would be a breeze for any cloth diapering beginner to use but they would last from infancy till potty training thanks to the 3 rise snaps on the shell that are easy to adjust as your little one grows.
I have been using my GroVia Hybrids since my youngest was born at 8.6lbs up to the present at 15months and a chunky 28lbs, and my oldest daughter used them form 1.5-2yrs when she was potty trained. The GroVia Hybrids will fit most babies from about 8.5-35lbs., and in my experience they have offered a comfortable fit with great performance as my baby has grown.
The GroVia Hybrid system consist of two parts, the water proof Shell and the Soaker Pads that conveniently snaps into the shell so you don’t have to worry about it moving out of place, that are both nicely constructed with soft and flexible cotton leg gussets that make for an even better fit and help protect against leaks. GroVia also offer diaper boosters for your growing little one and for the heavy wetter without adding much bulk to the already trim design. The shells come in either snaps or Velcro closure and they offer a wide variety of aesthetically pleasing colors and crazy cute patterns, that in my opinion really stand out from the competition and make you wanna just show those little cloth diaper bottoms off!! I have a mix of Velcro and snaps and while they both work fine over the years the Velcro has lost some of its “stick” so I much prefer the snaps as they still work as good as the day I got them.
When changing diapers you simply unsnap the wet/soiled soaker and put in a clean/fresh one. If the shell has become very wet or soiled(which happens from time to time on those extra messy dirty diapers) both soaker and shell should be changed. In most cases if the shell has just gotten wet you can simply hang dry it till the next diaper change, in my experience I have always been able to go through a normal day using only two shells since they really do a good job of containing the messes. I’m also a big fan of the GroVia BioLiners that are designed to lay on top of the absorbent layer and allow moisture to pass through while keeping your baby’s skin dry and help keep solids contained for easy clean up, simply remove the liner and toss or flush. While the Grovia Hybrids are not my choice for an over night cloth diaper they certainly do a excellent job for our day time diaper, they even work great for those extra long trips to the grocery store or long car rides when combined with some extra absorbency.
Overall I have purchased a hand full of other cloth diapers over the past two years. My stash includes: 8 GroVia Shells,14 soaker pads, 14 boosters for the extra absorbency our baby needs, several cotton prefolds, 6 pocket diapers, and 15 bamboo extra absorbent inserts. Everything in my stash can be used and combined with my GroVia Soakers Pads, which to me is another bonus. If I get behind on laundry, I can even use a prefold in the GroVia Hybrid shells with no problem.
I have really been happy with my GroVia Hybrids! I will continue to recommend GroVia to anyone interested in a GREAT cloth diapering system that not only works but that I know first hand will hold up over years of daily use. I only wish that I discovered GroVia and cloth diapering sooner so I could have used them from the beginning when I had my first baby girl almost 3 years ago. I’m already excited to use them on my future little ones and to continue telling mamas out there how great cloth diapering really is!!

I never really tried cloth diapering. It seemed like such a hastle to me when my kids were younger. I have recently read a few blog posts about this lately and you guys look like pros and make it seem so easy. Wish I had the nerve to try it, imagine all the money I would have saved.

I will have to buy a couple Grovias to test out on my little one coming in June next year. They do seem like a trim fit. I’m concerned about how bulky the diapers would be on a newborn though. Might just have to do prefolds for a bit if they are under 8 pounds, but definitely trying the Grovias out. 🙂
Nicole
My youngest was 8.6lbs at birth I did use a “Snappied” prefold under a Thirsties newborn size for a couple of weeks since she was already kinda chunky and snug in nb size,,but the GroVia Hybrids really didnt add to much bulk as far as cloth diapers go,,but using a prefold under the covers will definatley work great for the time til your baby fills them out better 🙂
Cindy B
I love seeing how it fits on two differently aged children. I’ve not tried Grovia before so it’s good to get a firsthand account, thanks.
Nicole
My pleasure 🙂 I really love my GroVia,,,My 2.5yr old has actually been potty trained since she was 2 but she was a good sport modeling with her baby sister..the same shell really offers a great fit for any size

I have ordered my first Grovia but haven’t received it yet… this makes me happy I did. I am sure it will fit my chunk!
Nicole
My 15mth old(27pounder) has been a bit of a chunk since day one, I have used them since she was born and they fit her chunky lil bottom great with room to grow 🙂

Erica
I love these, particularly the adorable prints!
Tara
I really like you can reuse the outer shell, yet the inserts snaps into place, unlike if you tried a trifold flat with a cover.
Lovely Light
I think its great that they have been used for over two years and they have lasted trough many, many washings!
Nicole
I feel that I have really put them to the test over these past couple years,,,yet they are still going strong and as soon as my youngest is potty trained they will be put up til the next baby comes along,,,totally got my moneys worth out of my cloth stash 🙂
Alycia Mundall
I just got one of these and cant wait to try it out on baby that is due in Nov,..from all that I have read about them I wish to add to my stash!!!

as a handwasher microfiber is not my friend so i love that its a 2 part system (easier line drying) and is organic cotton! makes my life much easier!

I’ll be starting with cloth when my first arrives soon, and GroVia is one of the types I’m considering. Glad to hear others have had good experiences with them.

Thank you for the review- I’m still trying to convince the hubby that cloth diapering can work. But I think we’re getting closer!
Nicole
I was kinda surprised how supportive my husband was on my decision to switch to cloth when I first found out I was pregnant with my 2nd,,my girls r 18mths apart so I think the idea of buying disposables for 2 helped convince him lol…I love cloth diapering, its my “normal” now after 2yrs,so easy I don’t even think anything of it,,Good Luck,,hope you get to join the club 🙂
Tracie N
Thanks for the review. I actually haven’t heard of the Grovia diapers before, but I’m excited to try them out! I have one 11 month old right now and I love cloth diapering!
Paige
Your girls are adorable. My hat off to you for having two in diapers. I hope we will go down a similar road. Just now getting rockin on #1 in CD.
Thanks!
Nicole
Thank you! My girls r 18mths apart,,and my oldest will be 3 in a couple months and has actually been potty trained since a little bit after she turned 2.Having two little ones in diapers really encouraged me to try to get her potty trained quick and I even think that the fact that she was CDed helped with the whole process. I wish you luck with your cloth diapering!! If you ever need any advice we r here 🙂
Amber Dunn
We are considering switching to this system!
Nicole
You will love it I use the GroVia system on its own with boosters and also combined with my recent find( and other Favorite )Alva Baby super absorbant Bamboo inserts they r great and the price is right on both inserts and covers!!
Christine Mark
I can’t wait to try cloth diapers for the first time!
Nicole
I have never ever regretted switching to cloth,,,,the only regret I have is that I didnt cloth diaper from the very beginning of mommyhood 🙂 We also use cloth wipes,,so not ever having to buy disposable wipes or diapers again is so AWESOME!!
Elizabeth JoAnn Parker
I want to switch to cloth, but we can’t afford the start up costs right now, so we are hoping to save to create a stash for our next little one.
Nicole
Hello..I have searched around for super affordable options for cloth diapering as we r on a budget ,,,I discovered Alva Baby while shopping around on Amazon…I really love that they offer covers that come with a insert for some as low 7 dollars!! I have 4 or 5 Alva Baby plus ordered their Super Absorbant Bamboo inserts (these r a must for my stash they r so good,,Love them!!),,,I know the initial cost of starting up can be high but just to throw it out there that Alva Baby is a great affordable option 🙂
Christina Howell
I would love to try a hybrid diaper! I’m new to cloth diapering so I really want to try a variety of brands and styles. I love how the inserts snap into place and that you can add boosters to the diaper.
Nicole
I really love my hybrid diapers the insert snapping in to place is great and i love that i can combine my other inserts with this system without adding bulk like prefolds with snappies can do on those little tushies,,,i have a variety of diffternt cloth diapers in my stash from prefolds with snappies to pocket diapers..The GroVia is our daily use along with my bamboo inserts that i use for boosters,,never have leaks or any problems with our system at all,,,good luck with ur cloth diapering I know its sounds funny to be crazy about cloth diapering but I love it,,,and get excited when other mommy decide to join the club 🙂
VivianS (@AskViv)
I like the snap in liners lately! Too lazy to stuff my pocket diapers most of the time! These GroVia look awesome 🙂
Melissa C.

Nicole
They r great aren’t they!!! I’ve used them on both of my girls over the past 2yrs and cant wait to use them on our next baby….BABY BOY hopefully lol crossing our fingers on that when the time comes!!
Bekah Kuczenski
I love that you don’t have to stuff these diapers! I used to be a fan of pocket diapers, but now that I have 2 in diapers that’s a lot of stuffing so I’d love some diapers that didn’t require stuffing 🙂
Nettie Larson
I really want to try one! I have a lot of friends that love them. Our 8 month old is a big boy so I’m glad to hear they’ll fit.
Rachel A.
These prints are so flipping cute! Looks like they are pretty trim too! Thanks for the review!
scianda
I can’t wait to start cloth diapering. My baby was born at 36 weeks; right when we were going to buy our diapers, and she was only 5 pounds 4 ounces, which I thought was too small for CD. And somehow three months we keep coming up with reasons to not CD.
Amanda
I have been wanting to try Grovias for awhile now but just haven’t had a chance. They look awesome.
Kelly Choma
Grovia is on the top of my list of cloth diapers to try. I haven’t switched over yet, but I am planning to.
